ASE Cultural Exchange student Lisanne Schlüter from Germany, currently a student at Mount Mercy College in Cork, is an accomplished rower and top athlete. While attending school in Cork she has joined the Lee Rowing Club and has been training with them. Lisanne went to a Munster meet in Limerick on Saturday and came 2nd – single scull – she finished in her personal best time. ![]()

According to tradition, Patrick came to Ireland to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. Patrick's efforts to convert, subjugate, and drive off the #celts were eventually turned into an allegory in which he drove #snakes 🐍 out of Ireland (Fun Fact: Ireland has never had any snakes!).![]()

Tradition holds that he died on March 17. Over the following centuries, many legends grew up around Patrick and he became Ireland's foremost saint.![]()

The Irish language distinguishes between talking to one person and talking to more than one person:![]()
If you want to say “Happy New Year” to one person, you can say “Athbhliain Faoi Mhaise Duit” (pronounce it like /Ah-vleen fway vah-sha gwitch/).![]()

Au pair Weekend-Trip: Cliffs of Moher/Galway/Bunratty Castle
October 12 @ 9:00 am - October 13 @ 7:00 pm
A hired bus will take us to the CLIFFS OF MOHER in County Clare where we can walk along the cliffs’ edge enjoying the spectacular panoramic view of the rocky coastline and the Atlantic Ocean. Then we continue our journey through the fascinating limestone landscape of the BURREN – a nature reserve – stopping on the way in the little village of DOOLIN – a centre for Irish traditional music.
On the way to Galway we will stop at the POULNABRONE DOLMEN – a prehistoric stone monument on a limestone plateau. In GALWAY, we will stay in a hostel in the city centre and have dinner, before we go out and explore the bustling pub scene in this student town. On Sunday, our bus will take us to BUNRATTY CASTLE. After a guided tour of the castle, we will finish the weekend with an IRISH COFFEE in the open-air museum of BUNRATTY VILLAGE before we travel back to Cork City. Spaces are limited and a deposit is required to reserve your place on this trip.
